Betting should be fun. Here is how to stay in control, and what to do if it stops being fun.
1. 18 and over only
You must be 18 or older to hold an account or place a bet. We check identity before paying withdrawals and may check at any other time. Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are closed.
If you share a phone or computer with children, sign out after each visit and do not save your password on the device.
2. Staying in control
Set a budget before you start and treat it as the price of entertainment. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
Set a time limit too, and take breaks. Winning and losing streaks both make it harder to stop.
Never chase losses. Trying to win back what you lost usually leads to bigger losses.
3. Warning signs
Spending more money or time than you planned. Borrowing or selling things to bet. Hiding your betting from family or friends. Feeling anxious, guilty or irritable about betting. Missing work, school or family time because of it.
If any of these sound familiar, it is time to take a break and talk to someone.
4. Taking a break or closing your account
You can do this yourself, at any time, under Safer Gambling in your dashboard. Set limits on how much you deposit, stake or lose. A lower limit applies at once; raising or removing a limit only takes effect after 24 hours.
You can also take a time-out of 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, or exclude yourself for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. While a time-out or self-exclusion runs you cannot bet or deposit, and it cannot be shortened or cancelled by you or by us. You can still withdraw your money.
You can also contact support and ask us to close your account for good.
5. Getting help
Talk to someone you trust, your doctor, or a counsellor. Free, confidential support for gambling problems is available in many countries, including helplines and online groups. Ask our support team and we will point you to one that serves your area.
